The phenomenon of mass emigration that has marked Romania in recent decades, as millions left in search of better lives abroad, this work reflects on the tension between loss and adaptation, on memory and national identity. The raffia pattern, a visual marker of economic disadvantage speaks about the collective memory of leaving, where the individual must adapt, reshape, or conceal their identity within new cultural frameworks.
